#LLReflection - Winter Landscape Nail Art

It is the final Lacquer Legion post of 2014. Today's theme is "Reflection". I struggled with this one and had two ideas that I batted back and forth but ultimately neither really excited me. I decided to something less general and more personal and in keeping with the season.

I have never been a huge fan of winter. I hate being cold and I hate trudging through snow and tip toeing across ice (apparently no one believes in salting sidewalks anymore). But one thing that I do love is the look and sounds of winter. Or lack of sound. For me winter is really a time of quiet and yes, reflection. We spend so much time indoors because of the weather and it is probably the time of year when I feel the most creative. There is nothing better than snuggling up with a cup of tea with a good book or settling in for a Netflix-a-thon. I even enjoy going for the occasional winter walk (when the temperature isn't below freezing!). And so I decided to do a nail art design in honor of that feeling. A snowy city road lined with trees. This is pretty much my view every winter!

I used a ton of polishes for this design (around thirteen), so I won't list every single one of them.

Steps:

I started with a base of white polish and then etched in my trees and road with brown. I sponged on a combination of colors for the sky and used my nail art brush set to paint on the road and tree details. The whole design took about an hour to complete.

On a sad note, this will be the final Lacquer Legion post as the groups organizers have decided to discontinue it for the forseeable future. I'm bummed about it but I have really enjoyed being a part of it over this past year. It is always great to do something that involves other bloggers and give a sense of community.
