Today I have for your drooling pleasure the Zoya Matte Velvet Collection. I remember when this collection was originally released and I was very "meh" about it. I figured yeah, I like matte but...so? I must have fallen and hit my head because I have no idea what i was thinking back then. This collection is amazeballs!
First up is Harlow, a plummy pink with metallic shimmer. I loved this color so much I immediately put it on and wore it to work. The formula is interesting; it's on the thick side, but the first coat applied thin and somewhat streaky but was completely opaque with the second coat.
Savita, a rich purple with metallic shimmer. Savita for me was what I wanted Zoya Carter to be - stunning and vibrant. The formula was pretty much identical, I used two coats.
Veruschka, a deep rich forest green. Green is my favorite color so I went a bit cuckoo for cocoa puffs when applying this one. Again the formula was thin on the first coat but evened out on the second.
Posh, a cool-toned vibrant red choc full of gorgeous shimmer. Man, I wish my camera and reds got along because this polish is leaps and bounds prettier in person. Like- seriously. Make you gasp pretty. I used two coats for pictures and the formula was consistent with the earlier polishes.
Loredanais a gunmetal gray/silver metallic. I'm usually meh about colors like this one and it's still not my favorite of the bunch but it is very pretty. This was the sheerest of the bunch. I wound up need three thin coats for full opacity.
Last up is Dovima, a smoky charcoal black with silver shimmer. I used this color as the base for yesterday's Lacquer Legion nail art. It's a great alternative if you don't like wearing a flat black cream. Again, it applied thin on the first coat and was completely opaque by the second.
So yeah I'm kind of in love with this collection. My personal faves are Savita, Posh and Veruschka. The Matte Velvet collection is sold via the Zoya website and retail for $9 a bottle.
