31DC2014: Day 2- Orange Nails

I am actually one of those rare creatures that loves orange polish, and I especially love it when it's paired with a neutral color. For today's Orange Nails prompt I decided to add a neutral color with a pop of gold! var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-41312601-1']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'valiantlyvarnished.com']); _gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', true]); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

(function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();

For my orange I used Sally Hansen Sun Kissed. I got this in a swap and it has quickly become my favorite orange polish. I've been rocking it on my toes for the past few weeks. For my neutral color I used Zoya Farah and for my pop of gold I used Revlon Gold Coin
I started by painting two coats of Sun Kissed of my middle, pinky finger, and thumb and two coats of Farah on my ring and index fingers. I applied my fast dry top coat, KB Shimmer Clearly on Top and once fully dry I used striping tape to tape off my stripe sections. I then applied the opposite color to each nail, and Gold Coin, varying the widths of each stripe. I left my thumb plain orange.
I was admiring my handiwork feeling really great about it when my ring finger decided to smudge right before I started taking pictures. I refused to start over so I did a small patch job on it. It looks a little lumpy and I'm still peeved about it, but sometimes it just is what it is, you know?
Stay tuned for tomorrow 31DC prompt...yellow nails...dun dun DUN...!
