Today's post features Zoya' Summer 2014 Magical Pixie Dust Collection. You may be asking what exactly makes these polishes more "magical" than their sisters the regular Pixie Dust polishes? Think more glitter more bling and more texture. These are like the Pixie Dusts on steroids! My full review and pics after the jump!
This was my first time trying Magical Pixie Dust polishes. One of my all time favorite polishes is Zoya Pixie Dust Chyna. In general I find the Zoya textures to be my favorites so these polishes had a lot to live up to!
First up is Ginni. Described on the Zoya website as a Pink Tourmaline. I would say this is fairly accurate. This color makes me think of Princesses! The formula was pretty easy to work with. I had no patches or streaks which is fairly surprising for such a chunky glitter. It was on the sheer side. I used two coats for pics and as you can seen I still had a hint on visible nail line. I don't think this would be an issue with short nails.
Arlo is described as a Violet Amethyst on the Zoya site. It read more like a dark pink against my skin tone. This was my least favorite of the trio in terms of formula.I found it much thicker than the other two and had issues with dragging and patches. I used two coats for pics and then had to go over the each nail and "dab" over the bald spots. Which gave my nails a thickish look I wasn't really happy with.
Zoya Bar is the third color in the trio and my favorite! It reminds me of a souped up version of Godiva form the 2012 Winter Pixie Dust Collection. Zoya describes it as a Nude Topaz. There's nothing really topaz in this color to me - more like a cool toned light gold. The formula falls somewhere in between the other two: sheer like Ginni and a bit thick but not as hard to work with as Arlo. I used two coats for pics but like I said with Ginni if you have short nails you won't have any issues with VNL.
Overall I think this is a cute little trio. My two favorites are Bar and Ginni. These are a great option if you like texture but want a bit more bling. I personally am still partial to my beloved regular Pixie Dusts!
Zoya Magical Pixie Dust polishes retail for $10 a bottle and are sold via the Zoya website.
