Let me preface this post by saying I never win anything. Well not ever - but I can count on two fingers the things I have won in various sweepstakes, contests, giveaways, etc. So you can imagine my astonishment when I opened my mailbox and found a small box containing the Nicole by OPI Dove Chocolate set. I had entered this giveaway waaay back in January and had just assumed that like any other giveaway I have entered I hadn't won. The set features two gorgeous brown polishes, Better After Dark and Promises In The Dark. I felt like crap on Saturday and spent most of the day in bed but nothing gets me going like new polish and winning something! I was originally going to just swatch these for you all but I wanted to do something fun and decided to do some simple nail art with them! var _gaq = _gaq || ; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-41312601-1']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'valiantlyvarnished.com']); _gaq.push(['_setAllowLinker', true]); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);
Promises In The Dark is a rich dark chocolatey brown. I love this color! It looked like melted chocolate in the bottle. The formula was pretty good on this one. It was not sheer at all and the application was smooth. I used two thin coats for pictures.
I went with a simply ruffian manicure for this one. I started with once coat of NY & Co. Millionaire. I then applied two thin coats of PITD followed by a coat of HK Girl Top Coat.
Both of these colors are gorgeous but Promises In The Dark is my favorite! The formula is great for nail art so I have a feeling I will be reaching for it a lot!
I'm not sure if the Dove Chocolate set is available to purchase yet. I personally haven't seen it in stores but that could simply be a case of geography. If you're looking for it I suggest keeping an eye out for the set at stores where Nicole by OPI polishes are sold!
