There comes a time in every girl's life when she must conquer the unknown and yesterday was that day for me. Yesterday afternoon I enjoyed an extra day off and decided to sit down and do some nail art. But not any nail art, no. I decided to do the nail art that I have avoided like the plague since I started this blog two whole years ago. Tribal nail art.
I recently ordered these vinyls from Nail Vinyls and was so excited to try something fun and different with them. Negative Space manis have been everywhere lately and they are incredibly cool-looking without being too complicated since the need to apply a base color is eliminated.
I started with simply applying my regular base coat , HK Girl Stuck on Blu. Once my base coat was dry I applied the nail vinyls and two coats of white polish. I removed the vinyls while the polish was still wet (very important otherwise the vinyls will lift your polish up when you remove them). I then edged out the white chevron in black polish. I used my thin striping brush to apply the black detailing in the chevrons to create my "tribal" patterns.
I am still obsessed with pastels at the moment so I opted to use pastel color to fill in the design.
China Glaze Def Defying
American Apparel L'Esprit
The Balm Hot Ticket Sky Blue Right Past You
Savina You're My Sunshine
Sinful Colors Starfish
Overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. For a first try it's not too shabby! But it was incredibly time consuming! I don't know how girls who are always doing tribal nail art manage it. Practice makes perfect so I guess the more I do it the faster I will get!
