Revlon by Marchesa 3D Jewel Appliques in Gilded Mosaic and Giveaway

Some of you may remember that I was pining after the Revlon by Marchesa appliques way back in September. And it took me a good long while to find them! When I did finally find them I was practically apoplectic with excitement. Seriously. I start squealing and whispering at the same time when I find a lemming that I've wanted forever. It's quite spazzy and I fully admit this. I wound up picking up two sets because I couldn't decide which one I wanted. After much decision I decided to wear this beautiful design, Gilded Mosaic- and give the other away to one of you! Check out how to enter at the end of the post!

Let me start off this review by saying that these are not like other strips. They function more like stickers than nail strips. This makes them both easier and harder to use if that makes sense. On the one hand you are not stuck with a wonky applique if you apply it wrong the first time, you can just lift it up and adjust it. Awesome sauce! The flip side to that is getting these to lay completely smooth is a bit of a PITA. I started with my right hand with these which I am glad I did because it gave me a bit of a learning curve. Each set comes with 18 appliques with various sizes to fit the nail bed. Unfortunately for me the skinny appliques were too skinny and the wide were too wide. I tried both on my right hand neither looked all that great.

But with the left hand I got the ingenious idea to grab my scissors and trim a bit off the sides of the wider strips and voila, magic. I still had issues with buckling and getting the applique completely smooth, but nothing as bad as my right hand. I also used my cuticle nippers to help trim the tips a bit. The little file that comes with the set works but doesn't get the corners very well. Another little trick I tried is that I added a bit of top coats to tips and sides of my nails to help reinforce and minimize any lifting that might occur.

Over all despite the hiccups I really like these. It took me only twenty minutes for all ten fingers which is pretty awesome. I also really want to try some of the other designs which look so amazing! Revlon by Marchesa 3D Jewel Nail Appliques retail for $9.99 a package and at sold at retailers nationwide. I found mine at CVS.

And now for the giveaway! I had a hard time deciding which applique set to keep and you can see why - 24K Brocade is gorgeous and features one of my all time favorite color combos - Mint green and gold! The giveaway will be open until midnight December 31st.
