"What day is it?! I said, what day is it?! Hump Day!" Have you all seen that hilarious commercial with the camel walking through an office saying that? It's become quite the schtick in my office lately. Today is Hump Day which make it Artsy Wednesday. This week's theme is Cartoon nails. I did a riff on this type of nail art some time ago, though mine were more of a comic book/cartoon hybrid design. This time around I really wanted to try my hand at a design that has popped up all over Pinterest and other blogs. It originated on Cute Polish so I decided to try her original design and color scheme.
I used three colors for this design: The Balm I Take My Coffee Matte Black, Sinful Colors Sugar N' Spice and Wet N' Wild White Out. There are two ways to do this design- I opted for the easier way since I don't always have the steadiest of hands. I started by painting my nails with two coats of Matte Black. Once dry I painted on Sugar N' Spice down the middle of my nails, being sure to leave the sides of the nails free so that the black was still visible. I used the bottle brush and applied a thin line of black across the tips of my nails to join the sides and create a "frame". I used my striper brush and White Out to apply the "shine" to my nails. To give the nails a more "cartoon" look I used Butter London Matte Top Coat.
These were so much fun to do! I highly recommend checking out Cute Polish's tutorial and giving it a try.
