... and now back to our regularly scheduled programming. I took a commercial break yesterday for Artsy Wednesday but we are back to swatch week here on VV with a beautiful color from Deborah Lippman's Mermaids Collection, Mermaid's Kiss. All of the polishes in the collection are sisters to the very popular Mermaid's Dream. I have always been a bit "meh" about Mermaid's Dream but have completely fallen in love with the rest of the polishes in this collection. I bought this polish as a belated birthday gift to myself since it is my favorite of the bunch.
Mermaid's Kiss has the same shimmery quality of Mermaid's Dream but instead of the shimmer being blue-green it is a soft gold. The glitters are a pretty light pink and rose pink. The formula was great; though I did need three coats for full opacity. I think this was due more to the free edge of my nail. If your nails art shorter two coats should work fine.
The effect of this polish is really soft and subtle. For some reason I was expecting it to be really bold and bright but it's not. It has a really pretty shimmer to it that is not overpowering. It would be a great alternative to a light pink if you're in the mood for a little shine.
