Indie Polish Week: The Lady Varnishes

Hi all, happy Saturday! We are on the final day of indie polish week with a brand that is somewhat new to me, The Lady Varnishes. And by new I mean that I drooled over pics on Etsy but hadn't purchased anything. Kirsten of The Lady Varnishes was nice enough to send me a few polishes for your viewing pleasure and I couldn't be more excited about them.  Each bottle comes with a matching charm attached. How cute is that?! Pics and review after the jump!

What Heroes Are For ("Heroes know that things must happen when it is time for them to happen. A quest may not simply be abandoned...") inspired by The Last Unicorn, is a soft pastel yellow with large and small sized, pastel green and yellow glitter. I have always liked yellow polish but I have been drawn to it more lately. This applied somewhat sheer and streaky on the first coat but evened out nicely after the second. I used three thin coats for full opacity. I had no issues with the glitter in this polish. No fishing or dabbing required.

You Have No Power Over Me  ("For my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom as great.") is my favorite of this trio. Not ony because it's a beautiful polish but because the name is inspired one of my all time favorite movies, Labyrinth (I love you David Bowie!) YHNPO is gorgeous pale milky nude pink with small copper glitter and copper and white glitter shards. This polish is so unique! I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. I was worried that the amount of irregular-shaped glitter would make this a pain to apply but it wasn't at all. I didn't have to fish for the larger pieces either which was a pleasant surprise. I think this was meant to be a layering glitter but I love the way it looks on it's own. I applied three coats for full opacity.

Heathcliff is a medium brown crelly with bits of holographic green microglitter and small and large round emerald green glitter. The formula for this one was thicker than the other two. I used two thin coats to keep it from being to thick on my nails but still had some visible nail line. This would work best layered over a brown cream I think. Again, this is such a unique color combo. When I opened the package these came in at work my male coworker said it reminded him of mint chocolate chip ice cream!

I am so impressed with the quality of these polishes. Such unique color and glitter combos.  The Lady Varnishes is sold on Etsy and retails for $8.50.
