Artsy Wednesday- Splatter Graffiti Nails

Hi guys, happy Wednesday! Today's Artsy Wednesday theme is "Graffiti". I was both excited and trepidatious about this week's theme. I had a million ideas but my mind kept going to the splatter technique. A technique mind you, that I've never attempted before. I love the look of splatter manis but the mess and clean-up time scared me off. But it was calling my name so I put on my big girl pants and got to it!

Let me start off by saying that this wasn't nearly as bad a clean-up process as I thought it would be. This was mainly due to the fact that I taped off my nails with scotch tape before I began. Clean up did take longer than normal but it wasn't insane so I was very happy about that!

I started off by painting my nails with two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I seriously should have gotten a back up of this polish because it is my go-to base color when doing nail art. Once completely dry I taped off each of my nails with scotch tape. I used American Apparel Hassid, Sinful Colors Sugar Rush, Butter London Slapper, Savina Purple Pansy, Sally Hansen Lightening and Lickety Split Lime for the splatter.

I'm happy with how these turned out considering that this was my first time trying this technique. I'm eager to try it out with other color combos as well. I think that my right hand actually came out better which bummed me out since it's not the hand I usually photograph. Then the light bulb went off and I thought "Duh! Why not post a pic of the right hand too!"

This one looks a bit more "graffiti-esque" in my opinion. What do you guys think? Have any of you ever tried this technique?
