10 Days of Couture Nail Art Challenge Day 8 - Inspired by Monique Lhuillier

Hi gang, happy Sunday! I literally just finished today's nails and taken and edited the pics. I try to do my nails the night before but it's the weekend and I wanted to sleep in! Today's nails are inspired by a design by Monique Lhuillier. She is well known for her amazing wedding  and evening dresses but she has branched out to Ready to Wear and so I decided to highlight something of hers that isn't a wedding or evening gown to keep thing interesting around here! I really love the print of this top and bottom set. I don't know anyone who could pull off such a bright all over print in real life though! I would definitely wear both pieces - but just not together. Well, maybe I would if I was really thin and tall like the model -ha!

For the design I decided to use the watercolor technique instead of being literal with the floral print. I started with two coats of Sally Hansen X-treme Wear in White Out (this has become my go-to white for this challenge!). Once dry I mixed American Apparel Hassid, Butter London Snog, Sinful Colors Starfish and Glamour House Light Pink with a bit of nail polish thinner and applied in small splotches with a nail art brush. I layered the colors over one another to give the design a bit of depth. I then applied a coat of SV.

I'm a bit obsessed with the watercolor technique so anytime I have an excuse to use it I do. I love that this came out more abstract but still closely resembles the original design.
