Hi lacquerheads! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and didn't spend too much money on Black Friday. I personally avoid Black Friday like the plague. My favorite time to shop is after the Holidays when everything is super crazy cheap. I also love Cyber Monday so I am looking forward to checking out the deals online.
A friend gave me Lincoln Park After Dark Matte awhile ago and I have never actually tried it before. Which is crazy because I have been drooling over other people's swatches forever. The original cream version of Lincoln Park After Dark is probably the quintessential OPI vampy color. It's been around for awhile now and is still the go-to color for many during the cold winter months. I feel like I can spot it a mile away when I see it on someone's nails. It's Matte version is just as awesome. It is my current obsession with matte polish that prompted me to finally pull this out of my stash.
I used two coats of LPAD matte for the photos. One thing I don't like about some mattes is that they apply streakily (not a real word). This was, unfortunately no exception. After applying the two coats I decided to throw on a coat of Butter London Matte Finish Top Coat, which evened and smoothed things out. If you don't have a matte top coat you can apply a thin layer of regular top coat between coats- this works just the same in smoothing things out. It also will help the polish last longer on the nails since mattes have a tendency to chip easily.
I am really loving this color in this texture. I feel like I am wearing dark liquid velvet on my nails. Sexay!
