LDTTWC Day 5- We Can Do It!

Happy Monday! Which I know is a bit of any oxymoron but I'll say it all the same. Today is the 5th day of the Let's Do The Time Warp Challenge, "We Can Do It". This one had me a bit stumped. The prompt is to pick and iconic woman in history as the inspiration for your design. A bunch of historic females popped into my head but I was blah about pretty much all of them. I wanted to pick someone who truly spoke to me. I have always had the utmost respect for artists and those who give back. So I decided to pick someone who filled both of those categories. And who truly is an icon. Audrey Hepburn! She is an icon because of her famous roles and her style that is still being replicated to this day. But the thing that I respect and admire the most about her was the work she did with UNICEF. Audrey was the first celebrity to bring attention to the famines in Ethiopia and Somalia.

For my design I decided to go with the most recognizable symbols of Audrey's most famous role, Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

For the design I chose the strand of pearls Holly wears as well as the black dress, wayfarer sunglasses. I also drew the Tiffany box and a diamond on my thumb.

For the base color I used China Glaze For Audrey (naturally). For the design I used Acrylic paint and for the silver diamond on my thumb I used LA Girl Art Deco Striper in Silver. This was only my second try with acrylic paint. I resisted for so long since my drawing skills are less than fabulous. But I finally broke down and picked up a set at Michael's.

So what do you think of my novice acrylic paint design?
