LDTTWC Day 3 - I Remember When...

Hi all! Happy Monday and all that jazz! Today is Day Three of the Let's Do The Time Warp Challenge. Our theme for today is "I Remember When..." and we have to do a design inspired by a memorable moment historical or personal. I was originally going to go the historic route but decided to do a design based on one of my favorite childhood memories.

Here in Chicago, fourth of July fireworks are kind of a big deal. They take place downtown right over the lake and there is always a massive turnout. So massive that we stopped going years ago because it was just too much with the crowd.  So now I just watch them on television on the local news channel. The last time we went I was a teenager, around 16 or 17 years old. We decided to get downtown early to secure a place and spent the day wandering around Navy Pier. Once the sun went down and it was time for the fireworks we managed to get front row seats right on the edge of the pier.  My brother and I sat down with our feet dangling over the edge of the dock and proceeded to watch the most amazing fireworks display I'd ever seen. I have yet to see one as amazing as that one was. And even me- a jaded, moody teenage girl managed to be completely overtaken by the sheer joy of the moment. It was just pure innocent giddiness and happiness which is harder and harder to come by the older you become. So here is my homage to that night. I hope you like it!

For the base I used Sations Midnight Blue. For the "fireworks" I used LA Colors Art Deco Stripers in Gold Glitter and Silver as well as Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Red Carpet (with a medium striping brush). I then strategically placed Lacquer Convention Mondrian over the nails to fill in any empty areas.
