Hi all! Today I have a design featuring one of the polishes my friend temporarily loaned me last week. OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Okay, I must have been plugging my ears because though I have heard the virtues of this polish praised by many I have never felt compelled to buy it. What the hell was I thinking?! It is the perfect white for my skin tone. White, but not chalk white, soft but not sheer. Ugh- I love it! I wanted to do something fun with it other than a straight swatch. I have been meaning to try the Saran wrap mani for awhile and have just never gotten around to it. My only problem was that I don't own any Saran wrap or plastic wrap. So, I got creative and balled up a small plastic bag I had laying around and used that instead. The results are awesome - if I do say so myself. My nails look like the are covered in gold leaf! This is so pretty and delicate and is honestly one of the easiest techniques out there right now. If you are new to nail art or you are still sharpening your skills I highly recommend trying this.
I used two coats of My Boyfriend Scales Walls. For the gold I used Essie Good as Gold. I just put a medium dollop on foil, balled up the plastic bag and dipped it in the polish. I made sure to dab any excess onto the foil before applying to the nails so I wouldn't cover the entire nail in gold. I then used a coat of Seche Vite.
Can you tell that I'm in love with this? What do you think? Would you like to see more color combos for this technique?
