Half and Half Houndstooth - China Glaze Exotic Encounters

TGIF! This week has dragged -I am so happy for the weekend. I'm taking a break from my challenges today to show you a fun design. I picked up China Glaze Exotic Encounters awhile ago and it has sat untried since. My untrieds list is currently growing and I need to start scratching colors off of it. I didn't want to do a plain ole' swatch for this color. So I decided to pair it with a houndstooth print. I started off with two coats of American Apparel T-shirt. I then used BM plate 19 and Orly Liquid Vinyl for the houndstooth print. This image was a bit of pain. The plate is from the first set of Bundle Monster plates released and the whole nail designs just aren't big enough. They cover about half of my nail. The newer set has wider images and I really want them but I promised myself that, A. I need to use all the plates I recently bought and B. I need to get better at stamping before I am allowed to add to my collection. We'll see how long that lasts since I keep seeing designs from the newest set on other blogs and am experiencing a serious case of coveting of them. After stamping the nails, I then drew a thick line of Exotic Encounters down one side of the nail. I thought about taping the nail off to achieve a straight line but just decided to eyeball it; my lines actually came out pretty straight. I love the way this looks. Solid colors and bold prints look so good together. You may notice in the pics that my nails are a bit shorter. They were getting too long for my taste so I took the length down some. This is my preferred length.
