Inspired by Fashion - Givenchy Spring 2017 Nail Art

Happy Halloween everyone! I haven't done any Halloween-inspired nail art this month because I simply haven't been in the mood. But we had out annual Halloween party at work on Friday and it got me excited about it. I decided to use two designs from Givenchy's Spring 2017 collection that incorporate colors Halloween colors for today's nail art design. So this is my ever so subtle nod to the Halloween season!

Tools:

Winstonia Berry Liner Brushes

What's Up Nails Stripe Nail Vinyls

Polishes used:

Zoya Cam (base color)

Zoya Willa, Serenity, Tara

OPI Squeaker of the House, We The Female

Hit the Bottle White Stamping Polish

KBShimmer Clearly on Top

Steps:

I started with 2 coats of Cam and let dry completely. Then, using my thinnest liner brush I drew on the outlines of the curved patterns. I filled in using a thicker detail brush. I originally was going to use acrylic paint for the thick white lines but the white acrylic paint I own wasn't applying smoothly so I grabbed by white stamping polish from Hit the Bottle. This polish stamps so well and also works really well for freehand nail art. For the striped nails I applied my striped vinyls and painted on Willa, I then quickly removed the vinyls and cleaned up any bits that bled under the vinyl. I finished with a thick coat of Clearly on Top.

This was my final post in my October Inspired by Fashion series. I've really enjoyed doing it and it has helped me brush off the cobwebs on my nail art skills.

My personal favorites have been the Jenny Packham inspired nail art I did last week and the Christian Siriano inspired nail art from a few weeks ago.

Which design from this series has been your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Inspired by Fashion - Jenny Packham Spring 2017 Nail Art

Happy Monday all! Today is the second to last post in my Inspired by Fashion series. I have loved doing this and it's really helped to get reinvigorate me creatively. Today's nail art was inspired by this amazeballs dress from Jenny Packham's Spring 2017 collection. This negative space nail art was super simple and easy to do. Except for the whole painting in a straight line - which has never been my strong suit lol!

Tools used:

*Winstonia Berry Wine Line Brushes

*Winstonia Striping Brushes

Winstonia Acrylic Nail Art Paint in Black

Polishes used:

Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Zoya Naked Manicure in Natural

KBShimmer Clearly on Top

Steps:

I started with a coat of Naked Manicure just to help the natural tone of my nails. I then used my Winstonia Striping brush and Snow Me White to create a grid pattern - following the pattern in the inspiration pic. I then used my Winstonia liner brush and the black acrylic paint to outline the pattern. I finished up with two coats of Clearly on Top to smooth everything out.

Although my lines aren't as straight as I would have liked, I'm really happy with finished look. It's so simple and yet eye-catching and bright. And I will forever love the simple yet striking color combo of black and white.

Inspired by Fashion - Christian Siriano Resort 2017 Nail Art

Okay, okay so before you all start virtually pelting me with nail polish bottles for not having this post up yesterday let me explain:  Over the weekend I had a pretty nasty nail break. Because of course  - whenever I have tons of posts planned that's what happens to me. Anyway, the break was gnarly and I didn't know if I would even be able to shape my poor little nail to make it look halfway presentable. But I managed to get the shaped somewhat decent and I sat down on Sunday night fully prepared to have my post ready. I did my nails, took the pics and everything. I wasn't very happy with how my nails turned out but I thought I could salvage the pics and post anyway. So I edited the pics. And hated every. single. photo. Seriously hated. I was forcing myself to post nail art that I wasn't proud of and I'd made a promise to myself awhile back that I would never do that again.  And so I scratched the entire post and started over. I chose a different design as my inspo - one that I liked even more than the original and I am sooo happy with how my nails turned out!

Tools used:

Detail brush

(I used the end of it to create the dots!)

Polishes used:

Zoya Naked Manicure Perfector

Zoya Naked Manicure Tip Corrector

Zoya Ziv

OPI Matte Top Coat

Steps:

I wanted to replicate the sheer layers of the dress. I started with one coat of Manicure Perfector. I them used the end of my detailing brush to create the dots alternating between Ziv and Tip Corrector. I then layered on another coat on Perfector and one dots withe Tip Corrector. I finished with a layer of Matte Top Coat

I am in love with the dress on the right in the above photo and I think my replication of it turned out pretty good. I'm also glad that I went back to the drawing board and didn't post something that I was unhappy with. I've done that in the past (most bloggers have) because I felt I just needed to get a post up and I've always regretted it. Never put out something you don't feel you can't stand behind or feel about!

Inspired by Fashion...Marchesa Spring 2017 Nail Art

Happy Monday gang! It's been forever since I've done and Inspired by Fashion series. I decided the month of October is as good a time as any to do a new one. Starting today until the end of October, every Monday I will be posting nail art inspired by runway fashion. Today's post was inspired by a gorgeous dress from Marchesa's Spring 2017 collection!

Tools used:

Makeup Sponge

Ellagee Lickety Split

Polishes used:

Zoya Farah

*OPI Never Have Too Mani Friends

KBShimmer Clearly on Top

*OPI Matte Top Coat

Steps:

I started with two thin coats of Farah and let fully dry. I then ssponged on a combo of NHTMF and Farah to create a dusky slightly messy gradient. I applied a coat of Matte Top Coat to mimic the texture of the fabric.

The final result is a bit more muted that I would have liked but overall I am happy with how this turned out.  And the matte top coat gives the look a soft dreamy effect which I love!

Inspired by Fashion - Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2015

Happy Monday all! It has been awhile since I've done an Inspired by Fashion post.  I came across this Elie Saab photo on Instagram last week and inspiration struck. I love how colorful the design pattern is and yet it has a moody and mysterious vibe as well.

Tools used:

Nail Polish Thinner

Small Nail Art Brush

BP L015

Polishes Used:

Glitter Gal Chuck a Wobbly

Dance Legend 402, 419, and 420

China Glaze Plum Purr-fect

Konad Special Black

KBShimmer Clearly on Top

Steps:

I started with two coats of Chuck a Wobbly and a layer of top coat. I then thinned out a drop of each of my polish colors with a bit of thinner and applied them with my brush in random splotches. I then dipped my brush directly into plain thinner and lightly dabbed over each nail to create a more watered down, blurry effect. I stamped on my pattern with Special Black and finished with a coat of Clearly on Top.

I wasn't sure how this would turn out but I am so happy with the end result. I opted for a leaf- like pattern instead of vertical stripes and I think that make the pattern so much more visually interesting.

What do you all think? Do you like the interpretation of the dress pattern?
