June Ipsy Bag Review

I have been on the hunt for a great beauty subscription service for awhile now. I gave Birchbox a try but after four months I was just not impressed and decided to cancel. I have heard such great things about Ipsy and decided to give it a shot. I received my first bag this past month.

First off let's talk about the bag - I love it! The print is fun and bold and perfect for Summer and fits all of the essentials that I carry around with me on a daily basis. And it's Rebecca Minkoff- so score!

Now let's talk about the contents! For my inaugural bag I received:

Carols's Daughter Sacred Tiare Anti-breakage and Anti-Frizz Styling Cream
Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner
OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil
NYX Butter Gloss
Realtree for Her Perfume

Here is my brief take on each product:

Carol's Daughter Styling Cream - This one I was really excited about but alas it and my hair did not get along. It left my hair dry and dull after blow-drying. I think this would work better for someone with finer hair than me.

Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner - Whoa! This color is electric blue - like crazy blue. Just look at the blue part of the tube in the above photo and imagine that on your eyelid! Not something I would wear on a normal day (I'm more of a brown/black eyeliner kind of girl), but something I would definitely try out for a special occasion.

OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil - There are three makeup products that I almost never leave the house without putting on: Lipstick, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil. My mother taught me the value of a strong brow and it has stuck with me. I am partial to my NYX Automatic Eyebrow Pencil and was looking to not be impressed by this one. I was so wrong! The pencil applied like buttah! It has a great silky almost waxy feel to it and I didn't have to spend a ton of time blending. Always a plus! I have been using this everyday since I got it.

NYX Butter Gloss - My favorite makeup line is NYX. So when I saw this I squealed with delight. The color is a bit light for me but I love blending my glosses with my lipsticks to create custom colors and this will be perfect for that.

Realtree for Her Perfume - A nice light scent. I wound up giving this to my mother though. In the summer I am all about my Body Mist Fragrances from Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret so I knew this probably wouldn't get used.

My verdict: A pretty decent bag. Not everything was a hit but there were no major misses like there have been for me with other subscription services. I'm excited to find out what my July bag will have in it and that's a good sign!

  1. I just decided to sign up for Ipsy too! I'm on the waiting list but I'm hoping I'll get July bag. This seemed like a nice one!
