Watercolor Hearts

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope everyone has something fun planned regardless of if you're in a relationship or single. I myself am single at the moment, but always buy myself a little something- preferably chocolate! Today's nails are my first attempt at watercoloring. I am pretty pleased with how these turned out.

I tend to love pink more than red for Valentine's Day so I decided to stick with that color family for the design. I started with a base of two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I then applied a quick drying top coat as a buffer layer. Once dry I then used American Apparel Angeline, OPI Pink Panda-monium and a no-name off white from The New Black Love Machine polish set. This technique is fairly simple to do: I thinned the colors out with a bit of polish thinner until they had a slightly watery consistency and used a small nail art brush to apply the colors in various heart shapes.

I love how sweet and whimsical these turned out. I can't wait to try this technique with other colors!
